So I’m not much of a pattern mixer- but did so a while back and just recently realized I never shared about it! Being that I am in neutrals most of the time, my patter mixing days will be far and few- but I can say that I had fun doing so! I always admire people who wear bold colors and prints together- totally accepting that I will most likely never be someone who can dress like that on a regular basis! Nevertheless- I do like this “eclectic look” and even more love people who rock it on a daily basis.
Pattern mixing became really popular last summer and as summer starts this year- I see the trend still “trending”. Being someone that doesn’t even have much pattern in my closet- I’ve found that the easiest way to patter mix is to use accessories instead! I know I’m not the only one that has tons of fun printed summer scarves and although in a few weeks it will for sure be too hot to wear these (in Texas at least), now is the perfect time to pattern mix what that favorite accessory of yours! I for one, took my favorite lemon scarf and paired with my black and white (of course) striped dress. Although this is for sure still considered “playing it safe” in the pattern mixing world, I still loved this look and was proud of myself for trying something new!
Whether you like to keep things simple like me, or like trying new trends like me- pattern mixing can be as easy as wearing a fun clutch for the day! I’ve linked some really fun patterned accessories below, all to help you step out of your comfort zone a little bit! As neutral as I am when it comes to my close, adding a little pattern here & there is something I still like to do! (P.S- Deets on the shoes above here!)
Still loving this top from Mint Julep that I talked about earlier this year! Although I don’t wear it often, when I do I am always asked at least once where it’s from! I normally only wear neutrals- so this top is kind of not the norm for me. I love it though- because it’s sort of “neutral color’, if you know what I mean. I have a mission of trying to add more color this summer into my wardrobe and I consider this top as part of my success! Although this top is not linked below, I did link some other fab ones!
I paired this top with white denim, as usual, because why not. Speaking of white denim- I ruined my favorite pair recently and went on the hunt for a new pair! I came across a few pair- and linked them below. I also linked some wedges I came across- because these prices are just too good to pass up! Clearly this is an old outfit, as I haven’t been shopping in a long time. This year my minimalist/budget ways are totally working! I have been selling some of my stuff on Poshmark- you should totally check it out- as I will be posting some more stuff in the next few weeks!
One of my favorite stores has made it to Rice Village & I couldn’t be more excited! Altar’d State has finally touched down in Central Houston and I am so excited to be one of the first to break the news! I fell in love with this brand last Christmas due to the uniqueness of the brand- and it has been on my top list of places to shop ever since!
Altar’d State has basically anything you could need- from super fun tops and dresses to probably some of the best wall art I’ve ever laid eyes one! One thing I really love about the Rice Village location is all of their Houston and Texan stuff! Plus, it doesn’t help that they have some great books too! Being the bookworm that I am, the feeling of picking up a good read while shopping for some fab outfits is the ultimate success!
Another thing I love about this store is that they have a day dedicated to giving back! On Monday’s, also know as “Mission Monday”, where a portion of sales from the day goes to charity! This is one of the things I really love about the brand, in addition to other small touches such as the Prayer Requests in the dressing room, the super cute coffee mugs, and just about everything else!
Altar’d State has been a fav of mine for a while now, and I am certain that now it is closer to me, I will shopping there a lot more often! There’s nothing more rewarding than shopping with a brand that shares the same core values than yourself. Altar’d State is more than a store to me- it’s a blessing for those who don’t know Jesus to get a glimpse of the people who do.
There’s nothing more comfy than a super soft T shirt, and that’s just what this Z Supply tee is! I’ve always loved this brand, so of course this is one of the few of these pocket t’s that I own. I especially love this one because of the camo (obviously), but also love how it looks better and more distressed over time. It’s always hard to go back to work after a 3 day weekend, so I found this outfit fitting for the day!
I always try to keep things pretty neutral, so I balanced my camo top with some white denim. I love white denim and am so happy that it’s summer so I can wear it more often! Although I totally don’t believe in the whole “no white after labor day” rule, I still prefer to wear my white pants in warmer weather. I also wore my converse with this look, because, as stated before, comfy was my word of the day on this day.
With Z supply tops always stretching a little, I’ve learned that laying them flat to try keeps their shape! Also, if they do get too big, you can always make a cute side knot with your top, slimming it down to the size you want it to be. I’ve also linked some more of my favorite casual things below, just for you!
When I came across this jumpsuit at Urban Outfitters a few weeks ago, I had to have it! As if neutral prints don’t scream my name loud enough, the fact that this was a jumpsuit too sure got me! I can say I have worn this outfit about twice now-and love it. It’s super cute and perfect for date night, but add some flats and a denim jacket and this one piece would be perfect for the beach too.
And can we talk about these shoes? I picked these up at Nordstroms during my birthday week as a present to myself. I have been looking for the perfect pair of brown heels for quite some time now..and these for sure stole the show. Surprisingly enough, they’re actually really comfy! Although I wasn’t able to find the exact pair online, I linked some similars below!
Summer is already in full swing here in Texas (totally wish I was joking), like it’s been so hot ya’ll! This jumpsuit won’t be worn for long. Regardless, it’s a must have and for sure something to check out while you can! Did I mention its’s under $80 too?! #Yourewelcome
