Weekly Inspiration- 1 Samuel 16:7

Happy Wednesday! This week’s Wardrobe Wednesday comes from 1 Samuel 16:7-

“But the Lord said to Samuel,” Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. “

July 4th weekend always has some great sales in most of my favorite stores. Being one that likes to shop- I typically seem to buy more than I actually need during times like this. Although I definitely do a lot of shopping, I have learned more & more as I’ve gotten older that all the things that we buy during our lives are simply just “things”. They can’t get us a ticket into heaven & they certainly won’t assist God in overlooking our sins. At the end of the day, the “Lord looks at the heart.”

It is an old saying that some people “wear their heart on their shoulders”. Although many see this as a bad thing, I often do not. Showing emotion, kindness and compassion to others is not only a good thing, it is how God wants us to act during our time on earth. In the last days, we will not be judged by how many deals we got during Nordstroms amazing half-yearly sale, or by how many pairs of amazing shoes we had. We will be judged simply on how we treated those around us. This week, my challenge for you is to treat everyone with a little more kindness than you normally do. Take a few extra seconds to hold the door for someone, or maybe even give your waiter or waitress a larger tip then you normally would. Kindness is one of the many keys to a happy life.

Until next time!
