Weekly Inspiration- Proverbs 31:20

Happy Wednesday! This week’s Wardrobe Wednesday comes from Proverbs 31:20-

“She opens her arms to the poor and extends them to the needy.”

A few weekends ago, my friends and I made about 100 lunches for the homeless on a Sunday morning. We collected donations from friends & family & packed brown lunch bags with sandwiches, a drink, chips, and some snacks. About 6 of us worked together in total, and making all of them took about 3-4 hours (we kept running out of bread so had to keep going back to the store). When we finished, we were all a little hungry and tired ourselves but continued to finish and decided to drop them off at two separate homeless shelters- one for women & children and one for men. Making those lunches and dropping them off was the best feeling ever, for all of us. We decided then that this would be something that we did more often, not because we don’t have other things to do, but simply because it is something that we feel is needed to be done.

Often times, helping or blessing others is misconstrued as something that has to be grand & amazing. This is not the case at all- helping others is so easy and can be done on a daily basis! Helping doesn’t have to be planned, at all. Giving someone a compliment that is having a bad day is helping someone, paying in line at starbucks for someone behind you is blessing a stranger.  Being help to another stranger can be a spontaneous act of kindness. This week, my challenge for you is to help someone. It doesn’t have to be a grand thought out plan, just help someone in any way you can. Be a blessing in someone else’s life.
