I know I’m not the only one who has been seeing the Coach Brooklyn 39 & other hobo shoulder bags all over the internet this season (even though I am not a huge coach fan!). Still, I can appreciate the nostalgia of the brand and love the quality of their bags. This season, the Brooklyn bag has truly taken the internet by storm. So, I decided to order one to see what the hype was. I can say..it’s an amazing bag and I love it already.
What is a hobo style bag?
A hobo style bag is a bag that is slouchy and designed to look very “I just threw this on and it looks great!” making for a casual, chic look. Typically, hobo bags are a soft crescent shaped bag that is slouchy. Modern hobo bags can be found in materials such as leather and suede.

The Brooklyn 39 is great for so many reasons. Not only is it huge and can hold too much (a laptop fits in it), but it’s also the perfect amount of slouch. Also, it’s chic so that it doesn’t look too casual. It can easily be dressed up and accessorized with coach chains and charms. Not to mention, the bag comes in multiple sizes and colors (I got the 39 in maple). So, you are able to get one that is the perfect fit for your wardrobe.
Hobo style bags
Below are some different types of hobo bags in different sizes and neutral colors to wear throughout this fall and winter season. My two favorite types of hobo bags are hobo bucket bags, and hobo shoulder bags!
Hobo bucket bags:
Hobo bucket bags are great if you are looking for a hobo bag that is still roomy to hold a good amount of things. These come in a lot of neutral colors & lengths, from crossbody types to top handles.
Hobo shoulder bag:
Hobo shoulder bags are the most common, as they are the most “slouchy” looking and in my opinion look the most chic!
I typically don’t like brown bags, but brown bags for fall are a trend this season so I figured I could just return it if I didn’t like it. Safe to say I am keeping it & am so glad that I got it when I did, as I see now they are going out of stock!
