Destress- 3 things to keep you sane throughout the week

How is it already Monday?! I swear, weekends have been going by faster and faster! I made a commitment to myself to do no working this weekend 150% and I am glad to say that I succeeded. Not only did I not check my email once, but I even went as far as completely turned my phone off for the day as well! As extreme as this seems, as busy as I’ve been it was not only needed but also so necessary. I’ve always been a true believer that you have to take care of yourself first, no matter how long your “to-do” list gets & that’s what I’ve always promised myself I would do. It’s for sure not always easy, especially with my schedule lately, but I have found some little “pearls” that have kept me sane lately and couldn’t help but share. Below are my 3 things I do that literally keep me sane.

Stay organized

Okay- this one is a obvious but sometimes it’s not so easy. There are so many weeks/days where I feel like I literally have so much to do and don’t even know where to begin. I have found that when I do feel like this (which is a lot), the best thing I can do for myself is get organized and prioritize the things I need to get done. By doing this I am not only getting things done in a way that makes sense, but I am also able to give myself a sense of peace when I can see that I am actually accomplishing things on my list as well. Staying organized is my first secret & it has never failed. If you don’t have an agenda already, I strongly suggest you get one. I live by my Life planner & use it weekly to keep my days on track.

Find your peace

Everyone has a thing that gives them 100% peace. For me, there’s nothing better than a good book & a nice cup of tea (no shame, I’m suchh a homebody). Although I don’t get to enjoy this often, I do whenever I feel necessary. A lot of times, this time for me is when I first wake up on Saturday mornings. I have never been one to sleep in, so I normally take early mornings on the weekends to catch up on my favorite book that I haven’t been able to read throughout the week. This not only gets my day started in a relaxed way, but also gets my weekend started in the same way as well! I have some other friends who do this as well, and some who do something else, like run (I would never, LOL), to get some peace in their life. Whatever your “peace” may be, find it & make time for it. It is so so important to make sure that you make time for yourself always, no matter how busy you are.

“Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him” – Psalm 62:1

Stay connected to your source

Every morning, before I check my emails, social media, anything- I make sure I get connected to God first. This was a tough struggle I had for a while- I always would put that later on my list and it was never a priority. When I first wake up in the mornings (even now), my mind always races with all the things I need to do that day. My mind runs a million miles a hour non-stop, so I need something to get my started on a positive and less “frantic” way. I have a few tools that I use, and talked about them a while ago . Whether it be reading my bible for a few minutes in the morning,  checking your daily devotional while you’re still trying to get out of bed, or listening to a recent sermon while getting dressed (totally do all of these BTW), there’s nothing better than getting your day started off on the right foot.

“Trust in the Lord with all of your heart & lean not on your own understanding…” – Proverbs 3:5

Although I have many, these three things always help me to feel a little less stressed when I am having a not so easy week. Whether it’s choosing to ignore the world for a few minutes in the morning, or simply taking some time to have a cup of tea, I always believe that taking those extra steps to get your mind right is needed from time to time, which is 100% okay!

Until Next Time!
